Calo uses AI to estimate based on visual recognition and known nutritional data. It's designed for consistency and awareness rather than lab-grade precision. Estimates can vary depending on portion sizes, preparation methods, and hidden ingredients. Over time, consistent tracking matters more than perfect numbers.
Can I edit the detected foods?
Absolutely. After Calo scans your meal, you can tap any item to adjust the name, portion size, or remove it entirely. You can also add items the AI may have missed. It's your log — you're always in control.
Does it work for snacks and drinks?
Yes! Calo works with anything you can photograph — a plate of pasta, a granola bar, a smoothie, a handful of nuts, even your morning coffee. If it's food or drink, give it a shot.
Do I need to weigh my food?
Nope. Calo estimates portions visually, so you never need a food scale. If you happen to know the exact weight, you can enter it manually for a more precise estimate — but it's completely optional.
Is there a free version?
We're still finalizing pricing, but our goal is to offer a generous free tier so anyone can get started without a subscription. Join the waitlist to be the first to know when we launch and to lock in early-access perks.
What about allergies or specific diets?
Calo focuses on calories and macronutrient tracking (protein, carbs, fat). While it doesn't currently flag allergens or support custom diet labels, it's on our roadmap. For now, you can use the edit feature to note anything important for your own reference.
